What I do
Standalone power
Solar, battery and backup generation for sites off the main grid
Designed, built and commissioned for WA government utilities across regional WA and the Pilbara, from concept through engineering, procurement and construction to commissioning.
Commercial
Structuring, joint ventures and utility and government contracting
Three decades across gas transmission, upstream oil and gas joint ventures and ASX-listed companies, now applied to renewables and microgrids.
Operations
Safe delivery in remote and regional locations
Running crews, logistics and commissioning at sites hundreds of kilometres from the nearest town, where the programme is set by heat, cyclone season and wet-season access.
From the field
Most people picture a standalone power system as a few solar panels, a battery and a generator. The hardware is the easy part.
Steve Noske, on installing SPS in remote WA communities, October 2026
Logistics beat engineering. The site is someone’s home. Weather dictates the programme. Commissioning is where reliability is won. Getting diesel out of remote communities is one of the cheapest wins in WA’s energy transition, and SPS is how it gets done.
Background
Gas transmission, upstream oil and gas, and now renewables
Shell in Brunei, BHP in Darwin, EnergyAustralia, PETRONAS in Kuala Lumpur, Mitsui, two ASX-listed oil and gas companies, APA Group’s WA transmission business and, since 2021, CDI Energy. Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
