Standalone power for the hardest places in Western Australia
A selection of the work CDI Energy has delivered under my leadership since 2021.
Remote communities · Pilbara
Remote community standalone power systems
Delivery of SPS units for a WA government utility in remote Pilbara communities, replacing diesel generation with solar, battery storage and backup generation. Sites sit 850 to 1,100 km from the Malaga workshop at the end of unsealed roads, so every bolt, cable and spare is on the truck before it leaves. Switchovers are kept short, residents and community leaders are consulted early, and commissioning is tested harder than anything else so systems keep running unattended through 45°C days and dust storms.
Utility programme · Regional WA
Standalone power system cut-over works
Successive rounds of SPS installation and cut-over works for a WA government utility, taking regional customers off long rural feeders and onto their own solar, battery and generator systems. Each round involves staged site works, protection settings, generator cycling and remote monitoring across widely dispersed sites.
Product · NECA WA Innovation Award 2022
Rapid Solar Module
CDI Energy’s own PV mounting structure, certified for wind region D and built to be deployed quickly and cost-effectively in harsh remote areas, including sites once considered unsuitable for renewables. Recognised with the Innovation award at the 2022 NECA WA Excellence Awards.
Microgrid · NECA WA Green Energy Award 2022
Double-redundant microgrid
A microgrid solution developed by CDI Energy with dual-redundant battery storage, proving the reliability of renewables when integrated with other energy sources. Winner of the Green Energy category at the 2022 NECA WA Excellence Awards.
